The National Honor Society requires service to the community, school, or other organizations. Every school year, the National Honor Society requires members to complete a service hour requirement per semester and participate in both individual and group service projects to benefit the school and community. For example, during the school year of 2015-2016, members were divided into different service groups, each of which contributed to a fundraiser project. The groups participated in a bake sale, a book sale, tutoring athletes, and arranging a soccer refugee camp. All members were required to participate in one of these groups.

The National Honor Society members also planned and prepared for big club projects. Members suggested plans such as the Big Brother Big Sister Day, cooperation with the multicultural center, story telling time in the elementary school, the Grassroots Tournament, Shave to Save (KNHS), the Project V.O.I.C.E., and a Discounts Project. One of the voted projects was the Project V.O.I.C.E. (Vocal Outreach Into Creative Expression), which was an event where students and guest speakers shared their stories about reaching forward, the theme for the 2015-2016 school year. Participators freely shared their ideas and insight through speeches, testimonies, poetry, music, and lessons to their audience. Inspired speakers shared their experiences of reaching forward. Members of the National Honor Society prepared for this event by arranging the date and time of the event, gathering inspired speakers, and selling food and drinks for fundraising.

Furthermore, members of the National Honor Society were required to carry on individual service projects to complete the service hour requirement per semester, which was 10 hours. Individual service projects included participating in various group projects and community service works. Through these various group projects members of the National Honor Society build leadership and character and learn to build cooperation with others as a team.
